Back to Johnny Grot's House (2)
JOHNNY GROT'S HOUSE. English, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune and dance, as with many of the pieces in Thomas Davis's 1748 collection, was reprinted in London publisher John Johnson's Choice Collection of 200 Favourite Country Dances, vol. 5 (1750), and, several years later, in David Rutherford's Rutherford's Compleat Collection of 200 of the Most Celebrated Country Dances (where the dance is attributed to "Mr. Rose"). See "Annotation:John O'Groat's House" for more on title.
