Tune properties and standard notation


DUTCH SHIP. English, Jig. England, Shropshire. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The 'A' strain is eight bars while the 'B' strain is six, similar to "Dutch Skipper (1) (The)": included by Northumbrian musician William Vickers in his 1770 manuscript collection.

Source for notated version: a c. 1837-1840 MS by Shropshire musician John Moore [Ashman].
