Back to John Doherty's Mazurka

JOHN DOHERTY'S MAZURKA. Irish, Mazurka (3/4 time). G Major (Altan): A Major (Feldman & O'Doherty). Standard tuning (fiddle), ABCC'. An untitled mazurka from Donegal fiddler John Doherty. The second part has fourteen measures rather than the standard sixteen, giving the tune a somewhat 'crooked' feeling.

Source for notated version:

Printed sources: Feldman & O'Doherty (The Northern Fiddler), 1979; p. 94 (appears as untitled mazurka).

Recorded sources: Green Linnet GLCD 1137, Altan – "Island Angel." Topic 12TS398, John Doherty – "Bundle and Go" (1984. Recorded in the field in 1977 by Allen Feldman).
