BONNY LASS [5]. English, Country Dance Tune or Jig (6/8 time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. In addition to Daniel Wright's 1740 country dance collection (printed in London by John Johnson), the tune appears in John Walsh's The Third Book of the Compleat Country Dancing-Master (London, 1735, p. 260, and the edition of 1749, p. 200), and Walsh's (Caledonian Country Dances), published in several volumes and editions, 1731-c. 1745. A different, duple-time, melody by the same name appears in Walsh's The Compleat Country Dancing-Master. Volume the Sixth of 1754.
