MRS. HARWOOD. Irish, Planxty (6/8 time). A Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The melody is attributed to blind Irish harper Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738) in Charles, Anne and Samuel Thompson's Hibernian Muse (London, c. 1770). O'Sullivan was unable to trace the person for whom Carolan composed this piece, although he noted there were people named Harwood in Ireland in the harper's time.
Source for notated version: John Lee's A Favourite Collection of the so much admired old Irish Tunes, the original and genuine compositions of Carolan, the celebrated Irish Bard (Dublin, 1780) [O'Sullivan].
