AKA and see "Bean an Ti ar Lar," "Cows are a-Milking," "Lady of the House," "Máistreás an Tí," "Mistress of the House (The)," "Old Woman of the House (The)," "O'Keeffe's Woman of the House," "Old Maids of Sligo," "Old Leitrim," "Walsh's." Irish, Reel (4/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. A variant of “Woman of the House (1)." The oldest version of the tune appears to be "Cows are a-Milking", found in collector P.W. Joyce's (1824-1914) Old Irish Folk Music and Songs (1909). The first part is also a variant of “Pinch of Snuff (1)” according to Philippe Varlet. The title "Walsh's" is from a recording by accordion player Joe Burke, who named it after his piano accompanist, Annie Walsh, his source for the tune. County Leitrim flute player John McKenna and fiddler Packie Dolan both (separately) recorded tunes called "Lady of the House," in 1924 and , respectively, but Dolan's tune usually goes by the title "Woman of the House (1)."
