The tune is sourced to Québec fiddler Andre Alain (1931-2000) from St-Basile-de-Portneuf, near Québec City. Alain was influenced by the playing of his uncle, Armand Chastenay, and itinerant fiddler William "Quéteux" Tremblay, and his style has been much imitated by younger players.
