The tune (as "Satin Slipper") appears in the late 19th century collection of Alex Sutherland of County Leitrim. Sutherland was a fiddler from Drumreilly in south County Leitrim, who amassed a huge, though unpublished, collection of tunes in the early 20th century. A portion of the collection was deposited by Sutherland in the Irish Folklore Commission archives; unfortunately, the remainder was accidentally destroyed.
