Composed by William MacKay. 'Dragon' is thought to mean a kite, and Anslem Lingnau points out that in German both the fearsome mythical beast and the flying toy are called "drachen." The melody appears to be earliest published as "72nd's Farewel to Aberdeen (The)" in Pipe Major William Ross's 1885 collection.
