O'Neill already had a reel called "Mama's Pet," a different tune, in Waifs and Strays of Gaelic Melody (1922), and so this tune became "Paddy's Pet."
Source for notated version: Patrick Stack [O’Neill]. Chicago fiddler Stack was originally from Co. Kerry, and was the source for several tunes in Francis O'Neill's Music of Ireland (1903).
