C Major ('A' part) & F Major ('B' part). The piece seems to have derived from a song tune, and is associated with western Virginia (Galax) and northwestern N.C. fiddlers. A tune by this name was in the repertoire of Galax, Virginia, fiddler Herbert Higgins in the 1930's, later recorded by Bert Edwards of Mt. Airy, N.C. See also Samuel Bayard's Pennyslvania-collected "Cow Cross' the Road (1)" a close variant, and the New York-collected "Pop Weir Tune."
