Tune properties and standard notation
MRS. BERMINGHAM. Irish, Air or Planxty. E Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCD. The piece is attributed to the blind Irish harper Turlough O’Carolan (1670-1738), composed for a member of the family of Lord Athenry (i.e. the Bermingham family). A two part duple-time air to which a two part 6/8 jig has been attached. Edward Bunting, who noted it from the playing of harpers Charles Fanning and Hugh Higgins, printed the two separately, but O'Sullivan (1958) says it is clear from his mss. that they belong together as one piece.
