MRS. COLE. AKA and see "Madame Cole." Irish, Planxty. A Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by blind Irish harper Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738). Collector George Petrie calls this "one of Carolan's finest airs." It was composed on the occasion of the wedding of John Cole (Florence Court, County Fermanagh) to Jane, daughter of Robert Saunderson (Castle Saunderson, County Cavan), sometime in the early 1720's.
