The air appears under this title as Air 6 in John Gay's Beggar's Opera of 1729, set to the tune of "When Once I Lay with Another Man's Wife." It is also in John Playford's Musick's Handmaid of 1678. Lawyers were held in as poor esteem in Gay's time as now-days.
