GARRICK'S DELIGHT. English, Hornpipe. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The title references English thespian and theater manager David Garrick. The melody first appeared in John Johnson's Choice Collection of 200 Favourite Country Dances, vol. 6th (London, 1751, p. 25) and in John Hinton's periodical Universal Magazine (London, 1751). A few years later it was published in The Compleat Country Dancing-Master, volume the Fifth by the Walsh firm (London, 1754, p. 2). In each case the tune was set in the key of 'A'.
