The melody was collected as an air entitled "<incipit title="load:ghile" width=850 link="https://tunearch.org/wiki/Ghile Beag lé m'Anam Thú">Ghile Beag lé m'Anam Thú</incipit>" by George Petrie (Stanford/Petrie, Complete Collection, 1905, No. ). See also the same first strain in "Oíche Nollag," "Strawberry Blossom (2)," "Mill Stream" and Petrie's (1905) untitled airs No. 154 and No. 258.
