PRINCESS, THE. AKA - "The Princes." English, Country Dance Tune (6/8 time). G Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody and dance directions were first published by Henry Playford in his Dancing Master [1], 11th edition (1701, p. 281), and was retained in the long-running series of editions through the 18th and final edition of 1728. However, in the 14th through 16th editions give the title as "The Princes."
