REEL DES HABITANTS. AKA - "Habitants Reel (The)." AKA and see “Tuque rouge (La)." French-Canadian, Reel. A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB: AABB. The tune was recorded by Montreal fiddler Joseph Allard (1865-1947) for Victor, released twice; in 1929 for Victor records, and again in 1936 on the subsidiary label, Bluebird. Another Montreal fiddler, J.O La Madeleine, recorded the reel for the Starr label in 1939. Fiddler Isidore Soucy's "Reel de grand'mère" is a similar tune.
