The melody is in Frank Roche's Collection of Traditional Irish Music, volume 1 (1912, p. 73), as "Gleann Coise Binne (1)" (The Melodious Foot of the Glen, pronounced in English, 'Glencoshabinnia'), where the tune is almost note-for-note that printed by O'Neill. A version was entered as an untitled reel into Book 2 (No. 145) of the large c. 1883 music manuscript collection of County Leitrim piper and fiddler biography:Stephen Grier (c. 1824-1894).
