GLASGOW LASSES [1], THE. Scottish, Reel. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Gow, Surenne): AABB' (Athole). "Old" (Gow). John Glen (1891) finds the earliest printing of this tune in Neil Stewart's 1761 collection (p. 49. EASMES gives 1775 as the date for the collection). However, it earlier appeared in London publisher John Johnson's Choice Collection of 200 Favourite Country Dances, vol. 5 (1750, p. 89). It also appears in Glasgow is Gaelic for 'green hollow.'
