DUGALD CAMPBELL ESQ. OF BALLINABY'S JIG. Scottish, Jig (6/8 time). A Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Dugald Campbell Esq. of Ballinaby's Jig" was composed by Islay fiddler-composer biography:Alexander Mackay. Ballinaby is a small farming estate near the western shore of the Hebridean Isle of Islay, Argyllshire, Scotland. Southwest across the straight is northern Ireland. There are several recorded Viking burials at Ballinaby, and an eighteenth century report mentions three 'stupendous' stones standing in a row here (one of which still exists intact, with another partially standing). Dugald Campbell of Ballinaby was born in 1773 (date of death unknown) and married Isabella Hunter of East Lothian, fifteen years his junior. They had at least one son, Colin, born in 1814.
