Originally from N:Tullymet, near Pitlochry, Perthshire. He moved to London in the last decade N:of his life. "Miss Mary Garden of Troup's Reel" was composed by Edinburgh fiddler-composer biography:Robert Mackintosh (c. 1745-1808) and printed in his Fourth Collection of New Strathspey Reels (c. 1804). Despite the word 'reel' in the title, the tune is in jig (6/8) time, with the word 'reel' in this case referring to a intertwining ('reeling') dance movement.
