If Mackintosh is the composer then the reel's appearance in Neil Stewart's collection that is often dated 1761 may be problematic. Mackintosh was bors around the year 1745, making him aged 16 in 1761. It is not impossible, of course, that "Miss Jessie Dalrymple" was an early composition, but it should be considered that Stewart's volume was issue later than 1761. | |||
