One version of a tune, usually played in the key of ‘G’, is called “[[Mayo Lasses]]” (Breathnach, CRE 1, 80) and “[[Old Maids of Galway (The)]]” (O’Neill, DMI 654). Kerry fiddlers Denis Murphy and Julia Clifford recorded it as "Johnny when you die" [1]. Cape Breton fiddlers known it as "[[West Mabou Reel (The)]],” sometimes attributed to Dan Beaton {Domhnull Iain an Táillear} (1856-1919), although it is probably Irish in origin.
