No connection can be made with either of these individuals and Skinner.</span>
There was a James Duff Stuart (1853-1942), born at Moss Cottage, Edinville, Aberlour, Banffshire. Another individual, James Stuart of Rothes (located not far from Aberlour), was a corn miller who got into the whiskey distilling business a few years prior to the publication of Skinner's Miller o' Hirn.
