'''BILL HALL'S NO. 2'''.  AKA and see "Miss Forbes' Farewell to Banff." English, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. This version of the well-known Scottish tune "Miss Forbes' Farewell to Banff" (composed by Isaac Cooper of Banff, 1754-1820) is sourced to a fiddler and concertina player named Bill Hall, from the Pennine area of Baldersdale [Callaghan, 2007]. This is a remote region in north Yorkshire, known for its harsh conditions. The tune came via Sam Fawcett, another Yorkshireman and a neighbour of Hannah Hauxwell. Hauxwell (b. 1926) is well-known to British audiences as the subject of two documentaries on the BBC, which chronicalled the almost unendurable conditions of farmers in the High Pennines in winter. Hauxwell ran the family farm singlehandley for many decades, without running water or electricity, but became a celebrity due to the documentaries.
