THOMAS NIXON MUSIC MANUSCRIPT BOOK. An American War of Independence era musician's copybook for the fife, compiled by young Thomas Nixon (1762-1842, Framingham, Conn.) following initial pages by Joseph Long. It contains duty calls, marches, dance tunes and tutorial items. Nixon was a fifer during the war, following his father to Lexington and Concord and staying with the army for the the first half of the war, after which he returned home to Framingham.
