The Complete Preceptor for the Accordion (1843) was an early publication of Boston, Mass., music publisher Elias Howe (1820–1895), who also issued 'Preceptors' for other instruments (including the banjo, where he used the pseudonym 'Gumbo Chaff'). The button accordion was patented in 1829 and generally available for sale by 1831.
