BILL SMITH'S HOEDOWN. American, Reel or Breakdown. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by Bill Smith. Smith was a cattleman and rancher who moved from Cabri, Saskatchewan to Ryder, South Dakota, in 1913. According to Joe Pancerzewski, who played with him often, his fiddling was Canadian style. Bill played for dances with the Nelson brothers, and in Jimmy Hendrickson's hall.
Printed source: Pancerzewski (The Pleasures of Home), 1988; p. 21.
