ROLAND WHITE'S. French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Roland White's" is a reel from the historically anglo-francophone community of Douglastown[1], on the eastern shore of the Gaspé Peninsula, Québec. The White family of Bois-Brulé, near Douglastown, had a few excellent fiddlers including Roland. He was a contemporary and something of a mentor to fiddler Cyril Devouge, born in 1915 in L'Anse à Brillant (Brilliant Cove) on the Gaspé coast, not far from Douglastown, who also came from a family of musicians. Cyril learned the tune now called "Roland White's" from him.
