Tune properties and standard notation
FATHACH ÉIREANACH (AN) (The Irish Giant). AKA and see "Mooney's." Irish, Jig. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune was named in honor of Charles Byrne [1] (1761 – 1783), a 7 ft., 7 in., Derryman who died in London in 1783. He had a mortal fear of being dissected by anatomists and directed his body be flung into the sea upon his death at the age of 22.
