JOHN FINLAY. AKA - "Johnnie Finlay." Scottish, Canadian; Reel. Canada, Cape Breton. D Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by the late fiddler and piper Donald Riddell (d. 1992) of Kirkhill, near Inverness, one of the most influential players and teachers of recent times. In addition to teaching hundreds of students in his long career, Riddell was also Pipe Major in the Lovat Scouts and a fiddle maker.
