ASHPLANT [2], THE. AKA and see "Coleman's Reel (2)", "Denis Murphy's Favourite," "Dicky Sherlock's Reel," "Jim Kelly's", "Maguire's Reel," "Matt Molloy's (2)," "Night in Ennis (The)," "Packie Duignan's Reel." Irish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune has many names, usually from famous musicians who have played the reel. The "Ashplant" title is from Bulmer & Sharpley's volume, and is probably a mistake. The "Night in Ennis" title is from Vincent Griffin, from his Topic album of the same name. "Dicky Sherlock's" is the title the tune is under in Breathnach's CRE II, No. 200 (from John Loughran).
Source for notated version: John Doonan [Bulmer & Sharpley].
Print sources: Bulmer & Sharpley (Music from Ireland), 1974, vol. 1, No. 30. Moylan (Johnny O'Leary), 1994; 208.
Recorded sources: Transatlantic Records, Mick Moloney - "We have Met Together" (1973. Appears as "Reel on Mandolin," identified as a unnamed Sligo reel).
