Glen (1891) finds the tune earliest in print in Joshua Campbell's 1778 collection (p. 15), while Charles Gore finds the earliest printing to be in John Hamilton's A Choice Coll. of Scots Reels, or Country Dances and Strathspeys (n.d.).
