CHERRY RIPE QUADRILLE, PART 4. English, Jig. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABC. The "Cherry Ripe Quadrille" was composed by John Weippert and printed in 1827. Weippert was a figure in the London dance scene of the 1820's to 1840's, whose forte was fashioning quadrille sets based on melodies from period operas and popular song. He had a dance band called Mr. Weippert's Quadrille Band, and he is thought to have performed for the young Queen Victoria, at Almacks and other major Balls in London. Advertisements for his "Migonetti Waltz" give that it was to be had from "Mr. Weippert, Harpist to their Majesties, all the Royal Family, director of Band at Court."
