Tune properties and standard notation
CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY. Old-Time, Breakdown. USA, Virginia. Mike Yates recorded the tune from the playing of L.G. "Pug" Allen, of Stuart's Draft, Augusta County, Virginia. Allen sang the following lines to the tune, all he could remember of what were once several verses:
Come on down to your house,
It's a Christmas holiday.
Yates says related tunes are "Christmas Morning" (Melvin Wine) and "Old Christmas Morning" (French Carpenter/Wilson Douglas), as well as "What Did the Buzzard Say to the Crow" (Hobart Smith).
