Source for notated version: One of 48 airs given to Irish collector Forde by Patrick MacDowell, R.A., a "distinguished sculptor." "He was an ardent collector of Irish music, and drew his stories from every part of the country," says Joyce. MacDowell also gave a number of airs to collector George Petrie, who published them in his Ancient Music of Ireland (see also the Stanford/Petrie collection).
