Tune properties and standard notation

HEAVE AND GO. Shetland, Listening Tune (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (Anderson & Georgeson, Bain): AABB (Boys/Lough). A traditional Shetland tune, which Robin Morton (1976) believes has a "very Scandinavian feel," as do several Shetland tunes due to the cultural mix of the islands.

Source for notated version: Arthur Peterson (Shetland) [Anderson & Georgeson].

Printed sources: Anderson & Georgeson (Da Mirrie Dancers), 1970; p. 18. Bain (50 Fiddle Solos), 1988; p. 28. Boys of the Lough, 1977; p. 21.

Recorded sources: Philo 1042, Boys of the Lough - "The Piper's Broken Finger" (1976). Transatlantic TRA 311, Boys of the Lough, "The Piper's Broken Finger."
