HONEYMOON (POLKA), THE. AKA and see "Honeymoon Hornpipe." Canadian, Polka. Canada, Prince Edward Island. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB. The melody was first recorded in Montreal in 1935 by fiddler Hugh A. MacDonald [1] (1889-1976), of Antigonish, Nova Scotia. According to his granddaughter, fiddler Kendra MacGillivray, it is believed that a man from Westville, Nova Scotia, wrote many of the polkas that Hugh A. used to play.
