LADY CHARLOTTE MURRY('S REEL) [2]. Scottish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning. AAB. Composed by Daniel (sometimes Donald) Dow (1732-83), a native of Kirkmichael, Perthshire, who was a professional music teacher in Edinburgh, teaching the guitar as well as other instruments. He died of a fever at the age of 51 and lies in Canongate Churchyard. John Glen (1891) states the tune appears first in print in Dow's c. 1775 collection (p. 23), although also appears early in print in Malcolm MacDonald's 2nd Collection of 1789.
