BORDER REEL. Scottish, English; Country Dance Tune or Jig (6/8 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune appears earliest in David Young's "Duke of Perth" or "Drummond Castle" manuscript, compiled for the duke in 1734. It was printed in John Walsh's The Third Book of the Compleat Country Dancing-Master (London, 1735, p. 19, and the subsequent edition of 1749, p. 31).
