GOVERNOR JONES' MARCH. AKA and see "Dow Everly (1)," "Russian March." American, March (4/4 time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The march appears in several of 19th century Boston publisher Elias Howe's early publications. The tune was perhaps named for William Jones [1] (1753–1822) was the eighth Governor of Rhode Island (from 1811 to 1817), and the only member of the Federalist party to hold the highest office of the state.
