AUSTIN TIERNEY'S (Ríl Aibhistin Uí Thiarnaigh). AKA and see "Farewell to Erin (1)," "Cherry Tree (1) (The)," "Down with the Tea Tacklings," "Flags of Dublin (The)," "Flying Column (2) (The)." Irish, Reel (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Breathnach): AA'BB' (Prior). The tune appears as "Maid in the Cherry Tree (2) (The)" in Bernard Flaherty's Trip to Sligo (1990), perhaps a miss-titling of "The Cherry Tree". Michael Coleman recorded this tune for Columbia in 1921 in a medley with "Farewell to Ireland" (see "Farewell to Erin (2)") although the label reads only "Farewell to Ireland."
