MAY DAY [2] (Bealltaine). AKA and see "Bealltaine," "Broadway (The)," "Dinny O'Brien's," "Five Miles from Town (2)," "Mullingar Races (2) (The)," "Phil Durkin's Favorite," "Shaskeen (The)." Irish, Hornpipe. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Uilleann piper William Andrews recorded in London (1928) and Dublin (1930), and made an early recording of the hornpipe under the "May Day" title.
Source for notated version: "From Mr. P. Joyce, Learnt from his father" (presumably when P.W. Joyce was a boy, in Limerick 1840's) [Stanford/Petrie].
