BEAUS/BEAUX OF ALBANY [1]. AKA and see "Billy in the Lowground (1)." American, Reel. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune appears in the 1847 violin tutor of Providence, Rhode Island, violinist, music teacher and dance musician George Saunders. It is seen as a precursor to the old-time tune "Billy in the Lowground (1)," and, in the first strain, a derivative of the Irish "Belles of Tipperary (1)," and the Scottish "Braes of Auchtertyre (1)."
