O'BRIEN FROM NEWTOWN. AKA and see "Jackson's Morning Breeze," "Micky Quinn's," "Séamus Connolly's Jig." Irish, Jig. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The title honors Paddy O'Brien (1922-1991), from Newtown, County Tipperary, who recorded the jig (as "Mick Quinn's") in a duet with Bronx flute player Jack Coen paired with "Humors of Ballingarry." The pairing appears in his daughter Eileen O'Brien's book The Definitive Collection of the Compositions of Paddy O'Brien, not as one of his compositions, but as one of his sets.
