VARIETY IS CHARMING. English, Air and Country Dance (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The song appears in late 18th century songsters such as Calliope (1778), Vocal Music, or the Songster's Companion (1778), and The Humming Bird. The song begins:

I'm in love with twenty
I'm in love with twenty
And could adore
As many more
For nothing's like a plenty,
Variety is charming,
Variety is charming,
For constancy
Is not for me
So ladies you have warning.
