YELLOW JOHN [1] (Seán Buide/Buí). AKA and see "Pot Stick," “Lacrum Cosh,” “Ligrum Cush,” "The Marquis/Marquess of Granby,'" "Over the Water to Charlie,” "Sean Buide,” "Seán Buí," "Shambuy (The)/Shambuie (The),” “Wishaw’s Delight.” Irish, March (6/8 time) or Slide. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABC. 'Sean buide' was a term of contempt for the Irish followers of the English king William III. The name was corrupted into English as "(The) Shambuy," under which this tune sometimes appears. See notes for "annotation:Over the Water to Charlie" and “annotation:Kinloch of Kinloch.” See also the related tune “Mickey Murphy’s Jig.”
