ONE-STEP DE CHOUPIQUE (Choupique One-Step). AKA – “One-Step de Chupie.” Cajun, One-Step (4/4 time). USA, Louisiana. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). BB(Vocal)A(Vocal)ABA(Vocal)AA(Vocal)BA. Raymond Francois (1990) identifies Choupique as a community situated six miles north of Eunice, Louisiana, where fiddler Dennis McGee was raised. The name derives from a Choctaw Indian word which refers to the Bowfin fish, also called 'cypress trout', 'grentle' or 'mudfish,' that can be found in the streams of the region.
