OVER THE BORDER [2]. AKA - "Ower the Border." AKA and see "All the company's comin and maw canny hinny's amang them ," "Lairds of Ryton (The)." Scottish, English; Air and Slip Jig (9/8 time). England, Northumberland. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. The melody appears as "Lairds of Ryton (The)" in the c. 1812 music manuscript collection of Northumbrian musician John Bell [1]. Robert Riddell of Glenriddell collected and printed variation sets from a local musician, John Clark, a 'School Master at Moffat', who contributed variation sets to other tunes in Riddell's volume.
